A
school is a remarkable institution where a student learns to
develop ways of thinking, knows how to seek and use the
information. One learns how to source and analyze the knowledge
to make meaning out of it for conceptualization and application.
Success
comes naturally to those who go through good schooling practices
and seize the opportunities that exists while in school.
The
first rule of success is to understand that nothing is achieved
before it is thoroughly attempted.
The
second rule of success is to go on and on and on. One must
develop the ability of perseverance in doing regular and
consistent study.
The
greater the difficulty and hardwork, the more is the glory in
surmounting drills and practice.
Genius
is one percent inspiration and ninety nine percent perspiration.
The
following are the summary points for success
Be
systematic and regular in work
Develop
the right attitude and respect for studying a subject. This is
important for your future.
Be
enthusiastic at all times. It has multiplied effect.
Maintain
a happy state of mind and keep a positive approach while in
school.
Lesser
grades and set backs are a part of life in school. These will
sharpen your intellect and strengthen your mind, once you
challenge them.
Success
= X + Y + Z
X
= Do hard work and believe in yourself.
Y
= Play and organize your time.
Z
= Talk less, listen more and make your mark each day.
Follow
the above success tips. This is a 100% guarantee for your
success in school.
May
God bless you

Healthy
education only comes from a healthy atmosphere. ISM is at the
forefront in providing a healthy environment for students, in
every possible manner. The huge inflow of students in every
standard is a good example in this regard. ISM does not believe
in academic excellence alone, but in the holistic development of
a child. Therefore, ISM never fails to shine in academics and
co-curricular activities at all times. The fear of H1N1
disrupted many activities such as Annual Exhibition &
Jhankar Spectrum 2009 of the calendar year. However, the
Academic Award function which we had during the month was well
appreciated by parents and students. The special assembly
organized for Gandhi Jayanti was also widely acclaimed by staff
and students.
The
parent teacher meetings that were organized for the students of
classes 9th to the 12th did act as a good
venue for parents and teacher to interact. The school is making
all efforts to identify habitual smokers and counsel them on the
adverse effects of smoking, in order to help discontinue the bad
habit. The council members are also doing a wonderful job by
taking the initiative to revive the various focal groups such as
the Environment Club, Quiz Club etc. The Charity Club is also
planning to organize a raffle draw, in order to raise funds to
help those in need. Special coaching sessions have been arranged
for a number of games such as: Football, Basketball, Tennis,
Table Tennis, Badminton and Athletics.
The
last month has been an active period and has set in a lot of
work for a fruitful academic year in the coming months.

AASHISH DISPLAYS
INCREDIBLE MEMORY SKILLS
Aashish Rao, a Class X student of Indian School Muscat,
mesmerized his friends with a display of his eidetic memory at a
special assembly arranged in honour of him last Thursday.
He recalled the value of the mathematical constant ‘Pi’ to
the first thousand places entirely from memory. He was also able
to pinpoint the location of a digit from twenty slides displayed
to the audience for verification.
Another incredible feat of memory he displayed was to locate a
card from two shuffled decks. Anyone from the audience could ask
him to name the card which they picked from either deck; the
answer came readily from his impeccable memory. He is also able
to memorize up to four decks (208 cards) and recall each one of
them in the forward and reverse order. Similarly, he can
memorize up to 250 random objects and recall them all within a
short span of time both in the forward and reverse order.
Apart from the amazing memory he possesses, Aashish has proved
versatility by gaining commendable recognitions in other fields
as well. He bagged the second prize playing percussion
instruments in the competitions organised by the Indian Social
Club. He maintains a website on photography and information
technology. He won the second prize in the Inter School
Web-Designing Competition (Jhankaar) organised by the Indian
School Muscat. He was also the runner-up in the Inter School
Quiz Competition held in Sri Lankan School.
He is planning to take part in the ‘World Memory
Championship’ to be held in Bahrain.

The
Success Poem
In this poem I speak
the truth.
I'll give you facts you can't refute.
If you want to make more sales,
You mustn't listen to tall tales.
There are no
shortcuts to success.
It takes hard work to be the best.
First you have to have a plan.
This you have to understand.
Without a roadmap
you will fail.
This my friend is no tall tale.
Next you have to learn your craft.
Absent knowledge you have no path.
Then you must take
action now
Don't worry about the why and how.
Proceed with caution do you hear?
Fools rush in where angels fear.
Plan your work and
work your plan.
Persistence leads to a winning hand.
When you advertise test, test, test.
Acquire facts don't ever guess.
The right
ingredients are essential.
This my friend is elemental.
When you make money reinvest.
That's the secret to success.
This simple recipe
isn't hard.
It's all in how you play your cards.
If you do things like a pro,
You will see your business grow!

Little secrets of
success
When I was in the 3rd standard I
used to get only “excellent” grade in Hindi Literature.
I started working harder on my parents’ advice. They
said “There is no shortcut to success.
Only hard work can lead to it.” So I thought working
hard is the best thing to do everyday to improve my grades.
When the next Unit Tests came up, I was a bit scared and
anxious but by the grace of GOD I got “Outstanding” grade.
Be a person of hard work, be a person of substance!!

Riding a Bicycle
When I was six years old I wanted to ride a bicycle. So I
decided to buy one, and started my lessons on the wheels .I fell
down many a times. But still I continued. As I rode the cycle,
one fine day I realized, I didn't know how to turn, and dashed
against the wall. The same thing happened for few more days. And
then one bright morning, I went to the field for a race. I was
worried that I will not be able to ride a bicycle. I was
surprised to see that I had won the race. So remember friends
try, try, try again till you succeed. That’s the Mantra to
achieve your goal in life.

Little secret for
success
Do
you always ask yourself why our lives are unsuccessful or why we
are always followed by problems?
Some
people think that they are not happy or there is something wrong
in their lives, always trapped by something that prevents them
from moving on and having a successful life. Here are ten tips
to get rid of negative feelings and start a successful life;
- Work in a
job that you like.
- Take good
care of your health.
- Accept your
life as it is by not complaining over troubles you go
through.
- Do not let
your past control your future.
- Do not
regret on something that has gone, think of tomorrow.
- Always be
patient.
- Try to look
for the good in others rather than searching for their
mistakes
- Think about
people you love, do not waste time in thinking about those
whom you hate. Life is too short.
- When you go
through bad times, think about the problem as a cloud, no
matter how scared you are of its thunder. It might bring
rain for you.
- Keep
remembering that forgiveness is more relaxing than revenge.
Work is more fun .Health is better than wealth.

Little Secrets for Success
A
successful life is something everyone dreams of. Success does
not come easily. Each of us has to do a lot of hard work to be
successful. We should have a definite goal set in life so that
we strive towards achieving it. We should develop the habit of
doing our work on time and not postpone it to a later date. We
must be sincere with ourselves and our work to obtain the
desired result. There are no shortcuts to success.
As
the saying goes “aim for the skies you will at least end up on
the treetop”. This is to teach us that one must set very high
goals in life and try to achieve it. Luck also plays an
important role in being successful. Any opportunity obtained
should be grabbed as opportunity knocks at your door only once.
Do not be afraid of mistakes. We generally learn a lot from our
mistakes and it motivates us to do better the next time.
Mistakes are the secret of success.
Learn
to take responsibilities in life. Being responsible will give us
an opportunity to do things our way and help us to succeed. Do
not fear to take up responsibilities and set an example to
others by your hard work and dedication.
Keep
an open mind. Listen to suggestions and opinions and try to
follow it. Take care to use only the good ideas. Good
suggestions can always be accepted and followed for success.
Have
a positive attitude and always do your work with more enthusiasm
and zeal. Success is a very sweet thing and everyone loves to
get a taste of it. But remember success does not come for free.
It requires a lot of hard work and patience.

Seven Secrets of Success
Hello,
good folks, read my little rhyme,
It
might be useful in some future-time.
If
by good values you stand,
You
will always have the upper hand.
Meet
every trouble with courage,
And
life will turn a better page.
If
you are cheerful,
You
will always be successful.
Elders
you must respect,
If
you are to better your prospect.
If
you work hard,
You
will never be a laggard.
For
your own sakes,
Learn
from your mistakes.
Be
to other people kind,
In
that you will pleasure find.
These
secrets of success seven
You
can use every morn and even.

wish to know the secrets of success. Actually there is no such
secret. The only key to success is hard work . Without doing
hard work we will not achieve any success.
A student can be successful in examination only if he works hard.
So let us all work hard to get success in life.

A Determined Heart
A moonlit night shone silver
And reigned brightly in all directions
A stony terrain stretched forward
The inevitable pathway to achieve perfection
A
stream of glimmering waters dismembered the path
Rushing
through the way the dripping bushed lead
Their
leaves, on them, grew silver crystals
That
twinkled brilliantly, obeying what they reflected
A lonely drifter rowed silently
Through the mist like a wandering child
The splish-splashed that rose were consumed by
the quiet
As he rowed through the unfamiliar wild
A
firefly lit his way
Its
light, the vagabond was firm to pursue
His
fortitude set his resolve ablaze
That
was real yet virtual, a truth so new
As his little water cutter swam
The fog lifted and began to clear
The path he took was marked by white
In his eyes, there was neither dread nor fear
He
didn’t stop, nor look back
Following
the path he’d never depart
Till
the day his oath was satisfied
His
would remain a determined heart
I too believe, I’ll accomplish my aim
I’ll fulfill my vow, I’ll do my duty
For in that determined solitary traveler
I just happened to catch a glimpse of me…

GOOD MANNERS
Good
manners sweeten the general atmosphere of life. We can win our
worst enemies to our side by sheet courteous manners. Courtesy
costs nothing. Rough and rash remarks create resentment around a
person. People start avoiding such persons as do not have good
manners.
Like
bad manners, good manners are also infectious. We can make our
way to progress using little words of courtesy like ‘thank
you’, ‘sorry’, ‘please’ etc. these words act as a
change which help in making the atmosphere genial and affable. A
conductor in the bus wins over the passengers doing his service
with a smile. He proves to be the sunshine whereas a peevish and
irritated conductor makes the journey boring and tiring. Bad
manners always prove to be cumbersome.
The
scope of manners is vast. Just as ill-manners in speaking make
an adverse impact, the person having no table manners becomes
repulsive when he is seen eating voraciously, licking his finger
tips and swallowing the contents of food in gulps. Good manners
at the dining table should be taught at home and in the hostels.
Manners
are not confined to eating and speaking. General behaviour
determines the tenor of life. We often observe that students
keep standing in the passage where their teachers, seniors and
ladies face difficulty in passing. They do not have the courtesy
to make way and get aside. And this type of behaviour becomes
their second nature. There is no harm if a chapter on educating
manners to the students is included in their syllabus.
Sneezing
without a handkerchief, gaping wide to yawn, spitting here and
there are a few other band manners. Manners must be taught to
children from the very early stage. They should be taught to
respect their teachers and elders. They should be made to
assimilate the important of courtesy and humility. Manners are
closely linked to discipline. An ill-mannered child grows into
an in disciplined student and a bad citizen. Manners are most
important for smooth friendship. Bitterness of tongue changes
all our friends into enemies. One must be sweet-tongued.
But
we must not be duped by a villain who has a blithe and oily
tongue. People often wear the masks of courtesy and manners to
cheat simple people. One may smile and smile and yet be a
villain at heart. A goodly apple may be rotten at heart. Still
none can deny the need of good manners. Manners go a long way in
determining the personality of a man.

Success
Success was the name given by
Some one in some century
For the joy, the pleasure he received from
achievement
A word for showing his triumph,
Whatever is the real meaning of the word ,
Today it is word which means every thing
For the people around the world
who strive for becoming successful.
However different we are ,
we all aim for success .
To show that each one of us are capable, unique
And will be able to live our dreams.
Success has become a symbol of accomplishment ,
A symbol of dedication ,
A symbol which needs little bit of luck
and a lot of hard work.

!!! A STUDY OF SUCESS!!!
Farewell, too little and
to lately known
When I began to think and
call my own
For sure of souls were
Neal allied, and thine
Cast in the same poetic
moild
I fell, but never gave up
Started doing more on it
To the same goal did both
our studies drive?
The last set out the
soonest did drive
Thus Nisus fell upon the
slippery face
Whilst his journey
performed and won the race
O early ripe! To thy
abundant store
What could advancing age
have added more?
It might {what nature
never gives the young}
Through harsh cadence of a
rugged line:
A noble error but seldom
made
Still shewed quickness and
maturing time
Once more, never gave up
the chance
!!!!!! GAIN SUCESS ALL WHILE !!!!!!

EFFECTIVE STUDY SKILLS & SECRET TIPS
Effective study skills must be practiced in
order for you to improve. It is not enough to simply ‘thinking
about’ studying. There is a saying that goes like this;
‘Practice doesn’t make perfect; perfect practice makes
perfect.’ If you want to be an achiever, take this saying to
heart.
v
HOW TO USE YOUR TIME
Time is most valuable resource a student
has. It is one of the most wasted of resources. Avoiding
studying is the easiest thing in the world. A good deal of your
success in high school depends on this simple truth.
v
WHERE TO STUDY
You can study anywhere. Obviously, some
places are better than others. Above all the place you choose to
study should not be distracting.Distractions can build up, and the first thing you know, you’re out of time and out of
luck. Make choosing a good physical environment a part of your
study habits.
v
THE VALUE OF A SCHEDULE
You must develop a schedule. If you don’t have a
schedule or
plan for studying, then you will not have any way of allocating
your valuable time when the unexpected comes up.
v
THINKING SKILLS
Effective thinking skills cannot be studied, but must
be built over a period of time. Good thinkers see possibilities
where others see only dead-end. Talk to other students who you
feel are good thinkers. Ask them what it is they do when they
think critically or creatively.
v
READING
A primary
means by which you acquire information is through reading.
Don’t assume just because you’ve ‘’read’’ the
assignments that is the end of it. You must learn to read with a
purpose. In studying you must read the same assignment 3 or 4
times, each time with a different purpose.
v
WHERE TO KEEP NOTES
You must keep notes logically and legibly. By all
accounts the best place to keep notes is in a loose-leaf
notebook. Make it a habit of using the notebook to record all
your notes. Be sure to buy a good notebook, as it will get a lot
of wear and tear.
v
REVIEWING AND REVISING
As you prepare for examinations, you should spend time
reviewing and revising your lecture notes. Begin the process by
reviewing the notes. If you wait too long you may discover that
notes just don’t make sense.
v
EXTRACTING THE IMPORTANT DETAILS
This means that you locate in your reading the basis of
main idea. The more important details you can identify, the
easier it will be to review for exams because you have made a
link between an idea and information that supports it.
v
STUDYING FOR RECITATION COURCES
For all these standards you may require recitations,
such as foreign language, be sure to schedule a study
period just before class. Use this time to practice. Just see
yourself and if cannot, practice with others who can sharpen
your skills in a before-class study period.

YOU CAN
If you believe you can, you can
If you think you are beaten, you are
If you think you dare
not, you don’t
If you want to win but
think you can’t
It is almost a cinch you won’t
If you think you’ll lose, you’ve lost
For out in the world
That success begins with a fellow’s will
It is all in the state of mind
Lie’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the one who thinks he can.
Anonymous
Try
not to become the man of success,
But
rather try to become a man of value
Albert Einstein
Success
is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success
If you love what you are doing you will be successful
