Principal  - Mr. Achuthan Madhav

Promoting excellence in school is a long drawn process which involves the coordination and support of the student community and their parents, school staff and the supportive management committee.

I am convinced thus far that we have attained reasonable score in combining above stake holders to promote and chase excellence at ISM.

This involves the determination and the goals of education and strategies that should be adopted to achieve the desired effect in our children and foster a learning society with a life long  habit for good education.

Primarily there are four pillars of education which stand out for excellence.  Learning to know (emphasis on knowledge acquisition), Learning to do (emphasis on working out applications), Learning to live together (to adopt beyond the school level) and  Learning to be (to grow up as a humanistic, helpful and contributing individual in later part of his/her life).

The four pillars, foster overall excellence in the person and  he/she  would be properly understood as being well educated.  In a  small measure we try to promote excellence of all these levels of education at ISM. Sometimes,  we are free to analyse them in the light of school base  cultural activities, sports activities, extensive enrichment programmes, work drills and practices of finest teaching methodologies followed by remedial work and extended evaluation of all these virtues.  We need to work hard to educate our children on the above  four parameters and make our children to be firm, patient and passionate about achieving success  in any field, with hard work, dedication  and perseverance.

Day in and day out, we pray to Almighty to help  us deliver positively on  some of the ideals outlined above.  Thus modern day schooling  at ISM is both challenging and tough, focusing on the positive and realistic goals as well as  meeting the expectations of the parents and maintaining a good  discipline, which gradually nurtures a good student life conducive to learning  and achieving  more than a good grade in the examinations.

I would like to inform our parents that apart from intensive academic sustained programmes at ISM,  the children have great enthusiasm in participating at  the cluster meets, inter-house athletic competitions, drama competitions, quiz competitions,  Embassy sponsored  art competitions, a wonderful participation in International Non-Violence day programme held at the Indian Embassy.  These  were salient performance achievements of the last few days.

We  look forward to a greater participation of our  children in the Olympiads, ACER examinations in the coming months.

I  take this opportunity to wish all our parents and well wishers a very happy Christmas and a happy New Year.

Vice Principal- Primary  - Mr. Anand Prabhu

The grand finale of the Personality Development Programme of the Primary Section was held on Thursday, 4th march at 8 am. In the school hall. This was the culmination of 8 weeks of training imparted to the students of Std 111 and 1V. There were a total of 279 students who actively took part in this programme The selection for this programme was done judicially. A team of highly dedicated teachers were involved in training these children. The chief guest for the programme was Dr Keshav Mandadi, Assistant Professor SQU and Mr Ramesh. They were accompanied by the Principal Mr Achuthan Madhav, Vice Principal Mr Anand Prabhu and the AVP Mrs Lalitha Premkumar. Mrs Shailini Robinson, the coordinator of the PDP programme welcomed the gathering..

Amongst those who stole the show were the little stalwarts who made a clean sweep in ‘Monoacting’ showing their theatrical skills. Some of the scenes enacted by the participants were ‘What would be one’s reaction when hail stones fall on us instead of rain drops?’ ‘How would it be to win a lottery when you have a huge debt to pay..’

To do very well in impromptu speeches is one of the most difficult challenges every one faces across the world. The ISM primary children proved their mettle effortlessly taking this challenge to startling new heights of excellence when they spoke on topics like‘The first day at ISM’,If I were invisible for a day and so on.

The teachers’ dedication in molding the children and watching them perform with such exuberance and excellence brings pride and a glorious sense of achievement. They always bravely venture into new frontiers and try their best to encourage children in all areas where no child is left behind but ‘everyone is made to feel like a winner’

Mrs Rita Pais proposed the vote of thanks at the end of the programme.

The Kindergarten department was a hub of activity during the months of Feb & March. With hearts floating all around the campus on account of Valentines Day, love persists in the air.

The Annual Kindergarten Concerts for the year 2009 -2010 began on 28th Feb through 6 March 2010. The extravaganza had all the classes performing on stage for distinguished guests, eminent personalities, parents, staff & students. Under the expert guidance of the K.G.Supervisor,  Mrs.Prema George and the tireless training by the class teachers the budding stars put up a spectacular show.

The Principal Mr.Achutan Madhav and the Vice Principal senior section Mr.Sunny Thomas graced the occasion on 28th February. KG-1 G presented “Toys R Us” which took us down the memory lane, with a nostalgic feel of long lost loved broken toys of our childhood days. All heads nodded and hands clapped for “Old Mc’donald …”, as KG11 H featured  “The Little Red Hen and the Wheat”. An awesome “Little Red Riding Hood” by KG 1E pictured a fairy tale come alive. To steal the show came on stage “The little friends” by KG11 L with the message loud and clear “ Be Eco Friendly”.

Member of the school managing committee &alumni of ISM Mr.Jignesh Surti was accompanied by the Vice Principal Middle Section, Mr.S.I.Sheriff to preside over the concerts held on 1st March. KG 1C cast “Cinderella”. The enchantress ensured that the audience had a ball of a time. While KG2F presented “Larry the future King of the Jungle” portraying the uniqueness of every creature on earth. “The sailor doll goes to  sea” by KG11 C was yet another mesmerizing tale of unity. KG1 B’s “Goldilocks and the Three bears” was totally a cuddly affair as mama bear, papa bear and baby bear embraced little Goldilocks. And “Sleeping Beauty” by KG11 K was the icing on the cake.

Mr.Jacob John the Admin Supervisor graced the occasion on the third day of the concerts, on 3rd March. KG 11 I had the gathering captivated by their “Four Billy Goats Gruff”. “Abracadabra” was the word of the day.KG1 J had “The Silly Bunny” which was a thoroughly hilarious play, with side-splitting wit and humor. “Father is always right” by KG 11 E reiterated the very fact as the title says it all. KG. 1 I presented the “Cap seller and the Monkeys” to substantiate “ Darwin ’s theory of Evolution”.

KG1A presented “The Enormous Turnip” which once again depicted unity is strength. KG 11B had the audience ensnared as “The Lion King” Simba and gang took the stage in their stride. For the right denouement KG 1 H paced the floor to present “The Rainbow”, an incredibly mind blowing performance.

With soul stirring music, peppy dialogues, astounding dance numbers, thought provoking messages and evocative morals the concerts for the year 2009-2010 of the Kindergarten section made a mark and left the audience spellbound anticipating a phenomenal repeat with a new cast of children starring a new variety of performances to portray the terrific talents in the years to come.

The class excursions took place in the first week of March. From 6th March to 10th March the children of KG were taken to Riyam Park where they enjoyed all the rides and frolicked in the sun. Entertainment aside the environmental exposure was an added informative experience.

The Show and tell competition was held on 14th March for the KG 11, each class had two participants. Mrs.Prema Raman, Mrs.Edna Aman and Mrs.Batul were the judges for the competition. The children were awarded prizes by KG Supervisor Mrs.Prema George. The show and tell activity enhances the public speaking, spontaneous thinking and extempore skill. It also gave the audience time to ponder on the various objects on display and applaud the huge effort of the tiny orators.

The report cards were distributed on 13th March for KG 1 and on 15th March for KG11. Marking the mile stones of each individual child, it enables the parent also to assess the child’s progress.

The festival of colours, Holi was celebrated on 15th March at Jibroo, the assembly was presented by KG 1 G and presided over by the KG Supervisor Mrs.Prema George. The colourful scenario was one of joy and splendor.   Amidst gleeful squeaks and laughter holi powder and bits of  coloured paper sent the air electrifying with the fabric of goodness and cheer.

The year ending party was conducted in each class on 15th March. With streamers, balloons, loud music dance and mehendi, the little ones took large strides to welcome the next year singing hail to these happy school days.
