April 2008 – Kindergarten Day Celebrations
The
week, from Saturday, 19 April to Wednesday, 23 April
2008, the campus of ISM Jibroo was a visual treat.
It looked colourful with children and teachers
dressed in specific colours everyday of the week.
(Saturday-blue; Sunday - green; Monday – Red; Tuesday
– Yellow, Wednesday – Orange).
Monday,
April 21st 2008, was a fun filled day at
Jibroo, to celebrate the 126th
birth
anniversary of Fredrich Froebel- the father of
Kindergarten system of education.
His education procedures, founded on play,
created an environment for young children that nurtured
self-direction, spontaneous play and intimacy with
nature.
‘Kindergarten’ literally means ‘garden of
children’.
Froebel’s philosophy of education rests on four
basic ideas – free self-expression, creativity, social
participation and motor expression.
On
this day all the children of KG I and KG II gathered
near the stage to play the game musical chair.
They also played different games in their own
classrooms.
Two prizes per class were given away.
Every child got special goodies-chocolates,
biscuits and chips.
A
special assembly by KG II ‘A’ about Fredrich Froebel
and his education system was interesting.
The children enacted a skit beautifully and
conveyed their thanks to teachers by holding placards
saying ‘THANKYOU’.
Mr. Achuthan Madhav, the principal of ISM
addressed the children and teachers.
The
programme concluded with the children of KG II singing a
song, “ Thank You dear teachers”, to convey their
love towards teachers.
“Come let us live with / for our children,”
said Fredrich Froebel and that is what the teachers at
Jibroo do.
