ISM BIDS ADIEU TO STD XII STUDENTS

Indian School Muscat bid adieu to 302 students of Std XII at a scintillating ceremony held in the school multipurpose hall on February 13, 2008 .

The ambience of the venue was skillfully created to stir up nostalgia with ‘Sweet Memories’ as the theme for the occasion. The hall was tastefully decorated with blow ups of myriad photographs capturing the students in various activities.

The evening started with the welcome address given by the Assistant Head Boy, Aditya Kurian. The Principal, Mr Ainsley L. Edgar and a few Class XI Student Council members lit the inaugural lamp.

The hosts, the students of Class XI presented a variety of dance and musical numbers. Karnika Ray and group presented a dance based on a fusion of popular Hindi and western numbers. ‘Beat Box’ by Ashwin Prashant was an unusual and well appreciated item.  The popular number ‘Imaginary’ by Riddish Mistry and group went down well with the cheering audience. A group dance by the Student Council members of Class XI and the dance by Mohammed Sajid and group added to the fun and revelry.

One student from each section of Class XII added a touch of sentimentality and poignancy to the evening with their reminiscences of their days in the school. They expressed their gratitude to their alma mater.  The Principal in his speech exhorted the students to carry with them the values they had imbibed from the school. He expressed the confidence that what they had learnt from the school would stand them in good stead in the years ahead. He gave away a glass plaque with the name of the student and the year written in it to each student of Class XII. Later in the evening Mr Edgar was honoured by the students with a traditional Indian shawl.

The much awaited part of the evening was the Farewell 2008 Awards. The school awards for the Best Sports girl & boy went to Nikita Chengappa and Robson Sam Varghese. Sudha Rani Agarwal and Abhishek Sharma were declared the Best All Rounders for the year.

This was followed by announcement of student awards. The most coveted titles of Ms ISM and Mr ISM went to Nikita Chengappa and Varun Arora respectively. Alisha Fernandes was declared Ms Personality and Varun Arora Mr Personality.

Varun Arora and Ashwani Rao lifted the Mr Genius and Ms Genius awards. The Hidden Gem of the school in the boys category was Shrey Wilson, and in the girls Mitika Jesrani and Deepika  Ramachandran jointly won the title.

 Nikita Chengappa and Robson Sam Varghese bagged the Best Sportspersons award yet again. Mitika Jesrani and Rohit Mall claimed the Ms Congeniality and Mr Congeniality awards respectively. The Ms Talented and Mr Talented awards were bagged by Nikita Chengappa and Varun Arora.

 The programme came to a close with a dance by Eldrida Lewis and group. Ameen Wagle and Abigail Lobo were the comperes for the evening. Nikita Chengappa proposed the vote of thanks on behalf of Std. XII.
