ISM Holds Investiture Ceremony for Junior Prefects

In a formal ceremony held in its Multipurpose Hall, Indian School Muscat inducted its 91 newly elected junior prefects of classes V – VIII into office for the academic year 2007 – 08 on 8th May 2007.

The ceremony began with a prayer to give courage to do what is right. Shriya of Class 8 delivered the welcome address. The prefects of class 8 solemnly marched on to the stage  to the beat of drums.

The Principal, Mr. Ainsley L. Edgar, administered the oath of office to the prefects. Led by the Principal, the prefects then took the solemn pledge to “discharge their duties loyally and faithfully and to serve with honour those entrusted to their care”.

Speaking on the occasion, the Principal said that a student who accepts the position of a prefect undertakes duties that are not easy to carry out. “He must first strictly obey the rules of the school himself, if he is to see that others also do so. He must first tread the path himself, before he can lead others to do so. He leads by example,” he said.

The ceremony of pinning of the badges was carried out by the Principal, the Vice Principals, Assistant Vice Principals and the Heads of Departments of the Senior, Middle, Primary and Pre-Primary sections of the school.

The ceremony concluded with a prayer by the Vice Principal of the Middle Section, Mr. N.C. Vijayachandra, and the singing of the School Anthem.
