Farewell 2007

Indian School Muscat bid adieu to 254 students of Class 12 at a glittering ceremony held on February 17, 2007 at the School Multipurpose Hall.

The guests and the hosts alike turned up in their dazzling best and looked glamorous. The Asst. Head Boy, Varun Arora gave a formal welcome to the Students of Class XII. The outgoing Student Council handed over lighted candles to their juniors bequeathing the mantle of responsibility.

The hosts, the students of Class XI, had an array of musical and dance items for entertainment. The highlight of the evening’s cultural programme was the Farewell Video – 2007, vignettes of fond memories. ‘Diaspora Band’ presented the track American Idiot from the Grammy award-winning album. A soul-stirring farewell song written by Sukriti Stanley of class XI dedicated to the students of Class XII added a touch of nostalgia to the otherwise joyful mood. ‘Dance Medley Mix’ had the audience screaming themselves hoarse in excitement. ‘Crazy Kiya Re’ was a dance item that lived up to its name.

When some of the students went down memory lane sharing their most vivid reminiscences of their Alma Mater both the teachers and classmates were touched by the love and gratitude accorded.

The venue of the celebration was attractively decorated with Rangoli designs, lamps and myriad mirrors. The mirrors exhorted the seniors to go out into the world to reflect the glory of their Alma Mater in all that they would do.

Principal Mr. Ainsley L. Edgar described the farewell as a historical moment that would be etched in the memories of students on the threshold of future. He said, “Go placidly among the noise and haste but know what peace can be found in silence. Enjoy your achievements but do not lose sight of what you have yet to achieve.” He gave away a glass plaque with the name and year written on it, as a memento   to every Twelfth Grader.  The Indian School Alumni too had their share of wishing them good luck with goodbye gifts.

Mr. T.R. Mohana, Vice-Principal of the Senior Section, in his farewell speech gave a brief note on the qualities needed to achieve success in life.
