PRESENTS ACADEMIC ACCOLADES
TO OUTSTANDING STUDENTS Eighty-four students of classes X
and XII were felicitated for their excellent performance in the CBSE
examinations at a ceremonious function held
at the Indian School Muscat on 13th September 2006. Mr.
Deepak Bradoo, the President of the ISM Managing Committee, presided
over the function and gave away the awards.
The Chief Guest Mr. Deepak Bradoo and his wife Mrs.
Nalini Bradoo were received with bouquets by Nikita Chengappa and
Shalaka Pai. The Head Girl Riya Raj gave the welcome address.
The President’s Academic Award
was instituted ten years ago to reward and encourage academic
excellence.
This year 43 students of Class XII received a gold medal, a
certificate and a cash award of R.O.100/- each. They include 9
students from the science stream for securing 90% and above, 21
students from the Commerce stream with 85% and above and 13 students
who secured 75% and above from the Humanities stream. A record number
of 32 students of Class X were also recipients of this award for
securing 90% and above in their aggregate.
In
addition, 38 subject toppers with A1 grade from classes X and XII were
presented a silver medal, a certificate and a cash award of R.O.25/-
While
addressing the august audience, the President praised the award winners for
their dedication and perseverance and congratulated their parents and teachers
for their synchronized efforts. He stressed on the values to be inculcated in
life and exhorted the students to do their best and strive for perfection and
excellence. He also reminded them of their responsibility in building up India
and said that their individual achievements had to become national achievements.
Principal, Mr. Ainsley L. Edgar owed the progress of
the school to the benevolence of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said.
He also thanked the Department of Private Education and the Embassy of
India for their support and encouragement in all the activities of the
school. He commended the prize winners and said that the Awards were
an enormous source of motivation to students to perform well. He
praised the School Managing Committee for their indefatigable efforts
in providing the best of facilities to the students for achieving
academic excellence and reiterated the commitment of the ISM staff in
realizing this goal.
The
scintillating dance performances that followed enthralled the
audience. The school choir and orchestra also had their share in
entertaining the audience with their numbers.
The
Head Boy Aijaz Dadarkar proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was
compered by Manisha Madhavan and Nathaniel Edwin.
