ANNUAL
ACADEMIC AWARD AT ISM
Indian school Muscat held its
Annual Academic Award Ceremony on
April 12, 2006 in the School Multipurpose
Hall. Two hundred and thirty-six ‘Toppers’ of the Middle and Senior sections of
the school were felicitated for their meritorious performance during the
academic year 2005-06. Dr. Sunil Gupta, the Chief Learning Officer of IDEAS
Management Consultants graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Mr. Deepak Bradoo, the
President and other members of the School Managing Committee and proud parents
of the academic awardees were among the audience.
In keeping with the tradition
of promoting and encouraging excellence in academics ISM has introduced some
modifications and enhanced their academic awards this year. The ceremony for
’05-’06 saw the students being rewarded on the basis of the percentage of marks
achieved by them. The coveted ‘Honours’ list included the names of students who
had secured 95% in Std. V, 94% in Std. VI, 93% in Std. VII and VIII,. 90 % Std.
IX, and 85% in Science and Commerce streams in Std. XI. The first three rank
holders in each class from V to XI were honoured as ‘Toppers’ and given
mementoes.

The President, in his address
congratulated the recipients for their diligence and perseverance to excel. He
announced the Managing Committee’s decision to give the first, second and third
position holders of each class fee concession of 50%, 30% and 25% respectively.
The Principal, Mr. Ainsley L.Edgar, in his report, said that the school had
carved an enviable niche for itself in the Gulf having completed 30 years of
yeoman service in imparting education to children of Indian expatriates in Oman.
A short cultural programme that was put up as part of the ceremony was a
delightful mix of Western and Oriental Classical music and dance.
Ria Raj, the Assistant Head
Girl delivered the welcome address and Aijaz Dadarkar, the Assistant Head Boy
proposed the vote of thanks for the programme which was deftly compered by Abir
Bhattacharya and Natali Ghate under the overall direction of Dr. Alex C.
Joseph.
