ISM HOLDS
KIDS CARNIVAL 2006
It
was a showcase of epic proportions, never before seen or heard in the
Capital. The daylong meet, Kids Carnival 2006, held on 19th January
exceeded all expectations. It offered a platform to over 600 students of
the Primary section from Indian Schools all over the Sultanate to interact
and bond with each other. The host school wore a festive look to welcome
the little visitors. The Indian School Muscat, has been in the forefront
to encourage the all round development of the child and this event has
been one more effort in that endeavour.
The day’s program began with a formal inauguration by the lighting of the
lamp by Mr. S. Sridharan, President, School Management Committee. This was
followed by a welcome address by the Principal, Mr. Ainsley Edgar. “Kiddie
Angel” – the mascot of the Carnival and children dressed as cartoon
characters accompanied contingents from various schools. escorted the kids
from different schools. The range of activities that followed then
provided a fitting opportunity for the children to display their
histrionics, their skills and talent.
The youngsters got an opportunity to compete in activities such as Word
Building, Story Writing, Kala Kruthi, Skit, Macaroni Garlands, Jokes,
Tableau, Treasure Hunt and the ever popular and keenly contested Folk
Dance. There was also a thrilling magic show by James Gibb to keep the
young audience enthralled.
It
gladdened even the most nonchalant heart to see these young ones put up
such an amazing display of variety entertainment. In the process they also
won the hearts of their fellow contestants, such was their standard of
flair and panache.
While the environment was the cause of concern for the younger generation
in the skits, proper recycling of waste was the topic for the collage
makers. The youngsters kept their contemporaries doubled up with laughter
with their hilarious jokes. Insightful themes such as the horrors of war
and the benefits of hard work were the focus for the colourful tableaus.
The vibrant folk dances vividly portrayed the cultural diversity of India.
It caused many a heart to quiver with nostalgia for their beloved home
country. The participants of the Indian School Muscat walked away with the
coveted Champion trophy, while Indian School, Al Ghubra, was the runners
up.
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. Anand Prabhu, the Assistant
Vice
Principal, Primary Section of the School. While delivering the Finale
Message, Ms Lakshmi Neelakantan, Vice-Principal, Primary Section of the
School dedicated the day’s program to all the little kiddie angels
visiting from various schools of the Sultanate. She wanted them to be
happy and to be not only full of love for each other but also for the
environment. Balloons were released on the occasion. “May your spirits too
soar high, may the bond of togetherness, of peace and harmony stay on in
your hearts forever,” she said.
The Principalgave away prizes to all the winners of the various
competitions. Certificates were awarded to all the participants. They also
went home laden with goodie bags. As one of the visiting teachers aptly
remarked, “Only Indian School Muscat could organize an event of such
grandeur”. The joy and delight was evident in the faces of all the
participants as they headed home at the end of a fun filled and
exhilarating day.
