Show By ISM Middle Section !
The Middle Section
of Indian School Muscat held its Science, Mathematics and Computer Science
Exhibition on 18th and 19th October 2005. It was inaugurated by the Chief
Guest, Shri D.S. Singal, Second Secretary, Indian Embassy, Muscat, who
also witnessed the entire exhibition along with his
wife, Mrs. Singal, the President of the Indian School Muscat Managing
Committee, Mr. S. Sridharan, and other members of the Committee.
The Chief Guest was all praise for the quality and high standard of the
exhibition. He commended the hard work put in by the students in preparing
excellent exhibits under the guidance of their teachers and parents.
The Science section consisted of a total of 320 exhibits on topics such as
energy, magnetism, space science, life sciences, environment, light,
sound, electricity, electronics, etc.
The Mathematics section consisted of a total of 161 exhibits on topics
such as mathematicians, mathematics in space, aeronautics, nature,
medicine and interior decoration, commercial mathematics and banking,
mathematics in farming, carpentry, cooking, sports and games, recreation
mathematics, and classroom mathematics.
The Computer Science section consisted of 37 exhibits on topics such as
website, hardware components, computer software, network topologies,
networking in Indian School Muscat, history of Indian School Muscat, quiz,
virus, student grading system, mobile technology, etc.
The various types of projects set up included charts, plain models,
working models, powerpoint presentations, experimental demonstrations,
websites, etc.
Some highlights of the exhibition in the computer science section were
Networking Topologies and Networking in Indian School Muscat. Similarly,
interesting highlights in the mathematics section were the mathematical
facts about some of the world famous monuments like the Leaning Tower of
Pisa. Another example is the famous Bahai’i Temple of Delhi which is in
the shape of a lotus to be converted into definable Geometrical shapes
such as spheres, cylinders, toroids and cones. The science section too had
some noteworthy projects that need special mention such as the working
models showing the grinding of grains using wind energy and the generation
of hydro-electric power.
On Wednesday, 19th October 2005, between 9.00 a.m. till 12.00 noon, the
exhibition was witnessed by the Primary and Senior section students of the
host school, as well as the students of Al Seeb Indian School, and
students of seven visiting Omani Schools which included Al Eman, Oman
School, Government School, Darsait, Hassan Bin Thabit, Al Manhal School,
Wattaya Private School and Ahmed Bin Majid School, Al Hail.
The students of the visiting Omani Schools were highly impressed with the
various presentations. ‘Very good’, ‘Excellent’, ‘Outstanding’ were some
of the many comments that truly reflected the interest they took in
witnessing the exhibition. Of particular interest to them were the
Networking system of Indian School Muscat and the Optical Illusion
presentation in the dark room.
Mr. Al Azhar Bin Saud Al Salimi, Secretary at the office of the Community
Schools, Ministry of Education, was an important visitor to the
exhibition. Commenting on the exhibition he said, ‘The exhibition was very
good and very informative.’
The Chief Guest and all other visiting dignitaries, parents, and staff and
students of all visiting Omani and Indian Schools were highly appreciative
of the quality of the exhibits in particular and of the exhibition in
general.
