ISM organizes CBSE
Oman
Cluster Athletic Meet 2008
Indian School Muscat hosted the CBSE Oman Cluster Athletic Meet 2008 on
30th and
31st October 2008
to select the Oman Chapter Athletic team for the CBSE
Nationals to be held at
Mehsana Gujarat
,
India
from 18th to
21st December 2008
.
The Programme
began with a prayer song by the school choir headed by
Mr. M.K.Pandita. A floral tribute was then presented by
the Girls Dean, Nikita Benson to the Chief Guest, Mr.
Anil Sunger,
Chairman Sports Committee and by the Boys Dean,
Aditya Kurian to Mrs. Anil Sunger. The welcome speech
was delivered by Mr. Achuthan Madhav, Principal, Indian
School Muscat. In his welcome address the Principal
welcomed the Chief guest. He
also welcomed all the participants of various schools,
and the physical education teachers who had accompanied
them. He mentioned that sports is an important aspect of
the curriculum and it provides opportunities not only
for the overall growth of the child but also helps
develop the spirit of cooperation, team spirit and
showcased their abilities.
Mr. Anil Sunger, Chairman Sports Committee, Indian School Muscat
inaugurated the Meet and administered the Oath to all
the athletes of various schools.
This was
followed by the brief oath taking by all the
participants of the various CBSE schools in
Oman
in the presence of the members of the School Managing
Committee and the
vice-principals of various sections.
Ten Indian Schools from Sultanate of
Oman
participated in this meet: Indian School Darsait, Indain
School Al Wadi Al Kabir, Indian School Al Ghubra, Indian
School Al Seeb, Indian School Muladha, Indian School
Sohar, Indian School Ibri, Indian School Nizwa, Indian
School Salalah and Indian School Muscat. Around 300
athletes competed in 72 events in six different
categories.
