ISM mesmerised by His Holiness Swami Swaroopananda

The students of the middle section were privileged and blessed by the gracious  presence of His Holiness, Swami Swaroopanandaji on the 9th  of Nov’09 . The visit of His Holiness to the school was an auspicious culmination of spiritual aura blended with humour, as the  swamiji, delved into the depth of life and its purpose on earth.

Mrs. Hema Menon, welcomed His Holiness with the chanting of “Hari Om” as the swamiji, attired in orange robes walked up the dais with the school Principal, Mr. Achutan Madhav. After the lighting of the auspicious lamp , a prayer hymn was sung by the school – choir, followed by the melodious  solo rendition of bhajans by   Upasana Bannerjee and Kritika Srinivas. The Principal briefly introduced His Holiness to the audience. Swamiji then spoke to the students, touching on every aspect of life, through the narration of a story of the three types of kings and the punishment each of them faced at the end of their reign of 5 years. This involved the enthusiastic participation of students, as they were led to decipher the true facts of life, the hurdles that come in our lives and the need to be cautious, wise and bold like the 3rd king in the story, to prepare for bliss (heaven) on completion of our earthly chores. Students were also reminded that timely corrective measures brought about by oneself heeding the valuable instructions of parents and teachers would bear rich rewards and anchor success in their lives.

The message of leading a good spiritual life was very aptly driven down to the aspirants through the humorous narration by His Holiness and active student participation. Finally, there was a short question – answer session, where a few students put forth their queries, to be satisfied by the prompt answers of His Holiness.

The curtains were brought down with a Vote of Thanks by Mrs. Sindhu Nair, on behalf of the middle section. We, the staff and students, are indeed fortunate to have had this opportunity to be in his holy presence.
