DR. KIRAN BEDI ELECTRIFIES ISM WITH HER MOTIVATIONAL ADDRESS

 About 5000 students of ISM and other capital schools  had a rare opportunity to interact with Dr. Kiran Bedi, IPS who is a retired police officer and a great social activist on Monday, 2nd November 2009 in the Indian School Muscat multipurpose hall. Dr. Kiran Bedi, the first woman to join the Indian Police Service (IPS), who is on a short visit to Muscat, visited ISM to share her experiences and the secrets of success with the children of Indian schools who are the future citizens of our great country.  She was given a very warm  reception by the Principal Mr. Achuthan Madhav, vice principals, assistant vice principals, heads of departments, teachers and students of Indian School Muscat. Anjana Nanda, Head Girl and Krushika Patankar, Assistant Head Girl presented a floral bouquet to the distinguished chief guest.  

The Principal,  expressed his immense happiness to welcome Dr. Kiran Medi to ISM  with the support of BEC dignitary and  former committee member Mr. CM Sardar. While  introducing the Guest, the Principal gave a long list of academic and professional scholarships  of Dr. Kiran Bedi to enlighten the student community.  This he believed the students could emulate her spirit of achievement and mark for success.  

The  Primary Section school choir  dedicated a melodious and enthusiastic  song to welcome Dr. Kiran Bedi. These young girls sang with great zeal and enthusiasm waving the Indian National flag. Ms. Aishwarya of XI E rendered a mellifluous song to welcome  the chief guest.  The chief guest was moved by the presentation.  

Dr. Kiran Bedi, a Ramon Magsaysay Award winner, revealed the secrets of her success to the young students. The former UN Civilian Police Advisor, advised the students to take up their responsibilities on their own without being reminded by their parents and teachers; to utilize their time profitably; to develop a sense of ‘higher purpose of achievement in life’; and to be a value to the society and the nation wherever they live.  Dr. Bedi, a famous social activist and an outstanding tennis star player  also reminded the students to be grateful to their parents, and each of them was a fruit bearing banyan tree to the world. Later she enthusiastically interacted with the students answering their questions. Dr. Bedi enthused the children with several comic instances and class room events.  She said she would finish studying the course before the teachers teach.  Such a practice she said would be a revision when the teacher teaches the  class.  

She also presented  copy of her biography “ I DARE !” to the school library and urged the children to visit website – www.kiranbedi.com and pickup whatever best available to them as students.  

Maser Subrajeet Gosal of Std. VIII-A presented her portrait, drawn by him to the Chief Guest which she thankfully acknowledged and praised his benevolent artistic skill.  Later Dr. Bedi cheerfully posed the students and teachers of all the capital school during the photography session. This great interaction with Dr. Kiran Bedi and her motivational address to the children will be cherished for a long time and certainly the students will emulate her hard work chase such achievements and would be one day like her contributing greatly to the humanity of the Mother Earth.   

Dr. Kiran Bedi was profusively showing her love to the children and enthusiastically left the hall, waiving and cheering and giving flying kisses to show her love for the children.  The entire 5000 students who benefited from the glimpse of her enthusiasm and address were stunned with joys of cheer.
