ISM PAYS TRIBUTE TO ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
Indian School
Muscat (ISM) Merit Awards were presented to the students
achievers at a colourful function held on Tuesday, 10th
August 2010 in the school’s Multipurpose Hall. A total
number of 85 awardees were felicitated in the presence
of Mr. Anil Sunger, President, SMC and other members of
the school Managing Committee, Principal, Mr. Achuthan
Madhav, Vice Principals, Heads of various Departments
and the entire teaching staff of the school, and the
awardees’ proud parents. The school Boys’ Dean,
Joshua Michael presented a bouquet of flowers to the
President of the school Managing Committee.
The
prestigious ISM Academic Merit Awards are given annually
to honour the achievers of Classes X and XII for all the
best efforts they had put in to be the toppers of their
esteemed school. The Super Scholastic Award is presented
to those students of Class XII who secure 95% and above
on the aggregate. These award winners are entitled for a
cash award of R.O. 250/-, a gold medal and a
certificate. Those students of Class XII who secure
between 90% and 95% on the aggregate receive a cash
award of RO 100/-, a gold medal and a certificate. The
Silver medal is awarded to those students who secure the
highest marks in each of the subjects in the CBSE Class
XII examinations. These silver medalists are also
entitled for a cash award of R.O. 25/-. This year, 8
students of Class X and 77 students of Class XII
received medals, certificates and cash awards for their
achievement.
The
evening function commenced in the traditional manner
with the lighting of the lamp by Mr. Anil Sunger,
President of the School Managing Committee,
While
welcoming the meritorious students, their proud parents
and the dedicated teachers, The President of the SMC
appreciated the dedication, determination and
perseverance of the students and thanked them for
maintaining the excellence of the school. He also
complimented the Principal, Vice Principals, Heads of
Departments and the teachers for the outstanding
achievement by bringing transformation in students. He
advised the students to nourish all their knowledge to
do well in the future. Later, the President felicitated
the Super Scholastic Awardees with medals, certificates
and cash awards.
The
Principal presented a brief report highlighting the
achievements of the students and the school. At the
outset, he hailed the benevolence of His Majesty Sultan
Qaboos Bin Said towards Indian School Muscat. He also
appreciated and thanked the Ministry of Education and
the Ministry of Manpower as well as the Department of
International Schools Office for the constant support
and cooperation. The Principal expressed his heartfelt
congratulations to the enlightened and dynamic students,
their supportive parents and all the staff who were
directly or indirectly responsible for the excellent
result.
The students of Primary, Middle and Senior
Sections presented a string of colourful entertainment
and mesmerized the appreciative audience. The students
of Senior Section performed a semi-classical dance.
The students of Senior Section presented a
melodious song. The
students of the Primary, Middle and Senior Sections
presented a unique fusion dance which comprised of a
string of Hindi songs in both Indian folk and Western
styles.
The
curtain was brought down with the vote of thanks
proposed by Krushika Uday Patankar, school Head Girl.
The evening was indeed a defining moment for all the
award winners and their proud and supportive parents.
They will definitely cherish this evening for many
years.
Mr.
Deep Wilson, Mr. Eskalin Gonslalves, Mrs. Geeta N.
Chauhan, Deepika R. of X B and David Job of IX J were
the Masters of Ceremony.
