HOCKEY LEGEND INTERACTS WITH ISM STUDENTS

 9th August 2010 turned out to be one of the memorable days for Indian School Muscat. Mr. Dhanraj Pillai, the recipient of India ’s highest sporting honour, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award and the Padma Shri Award visited the school.

 As a token of respect, Sabarinath, the Sports Coordinator of the school presented a bouquet of flowers to the chief guest.  

Mr. Dhanraj Pillay is one of the most prominent hockey players of the nation who played 339 matches. He is the only player to have played in four Olympics, four Asian games, four world cups and four champions’ trophies. It was under his captaincy that India won the Asian Games in 1998 and Asia Cup held in 2003.  He was awarded the nation’s highest honour of Padmashri as well as Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award for the meritorious position in the Indian Hockey.

 In his address to the students Mr. Dhanraj Pillai stressed on 2 aspects. Hard work pays and students should respect their parents and teachers.  He mentioned that whatever you  want to achieve, aim for it and work hard. 

 The students also had an interactive session with the great personality.

Each and every one present cherished the moment spent with the legend of the Indian hockey team.
