organizes Orientation Programme for Informatics
Practices teachers
Department
of Computer Science, senior section, Indian School
Muscat organized a two day orientation programme
in the changed syllabus of the subject
‘Informatics Practices’
for the teachers of department of computer
science, senior section and computer teachers from
various Indian schools in Oman on the 8th and
9th of May 2010.
Mr. Mukesh Kumar, who is a member of the CBSE
Expert Committee for IT Curriculum, was the resource
person. Mr. Mukesh
Kumar is working as Supervisor & Head,
Department of Computer Science at Delhi Public School (DPS),
R.K. Puram,
New Delhi
,
India
. He is also
the technology coordinator for DPS Society, which has
over 140 schools spread across 13 countries. He has
authored several books in the field of Information
Technology.
The
programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the
Chief Guest, Mr. Mathew Abraham, Educational
Advisor to BOD, Mr. Achuthan Madhav Principal and Mr.
Sunny Thomas Senior section Vice Principal followed by
introduction of resource person by Mrs.
Seema Janeshkumar, Head of the Computer Science
Department.
In
the orientation, Mr. Mukesh demonstrated the GUI tools
and netbeans for development of applications, tricks and
tips to enhance the work performance ,GUI
programming using netbeans, database connectivity
and case studies. Practical sessions in Netbeans and
MySQL were organized. Mr. Mukesh Kumar also demonstrated
various kinds of open tools which can help teachers in
their classroom presentations and schedules using
notepad2, Google Documents, Google Calender etc.
The
resource person also had an interaction with the
students of Computer Science and Informatics Practices.
Students asked many questions and his comprehensive
answers reflected his high professional standard and
rich experience.
At
the end of the two day programme, teacher participants
received participation certificates. The workshop proved
to be highly informative and the teachers were very
impressed.
There
were clarity on what portions of
the IP Curriculum which is a must and on some
portions where deletion is acceptable.
