  ISM ORGANISES INVESTITURE CEREMONY

 Indian School Muscat (ISM) organised the prestigious investiture ceremony of its Prefects and members of the Students Council on Monday, 3rd May 2010 in the school multipurpose hall. Dr. A.M. Agrawal, Dean, Waljat College of Applied Sciences and Chairperson, school Academic sub-committee was the Chief Guest of the occasion. Principal Mr. Achuthan Madhav, Mr. Mathew Abraham, Educational Advisor to the Board of Directors, Col. Mani, the Administration Manager of the school, Vice Principals, Asst Vice Principals, Heads of Departments, staff, students and their proud parents attended the ceremony. The Chief Guest inaugurated the function by lighting the traditional lamp.  

The beginning of the solemn and prestigious investiture ceremony was marked by the marching in of the Prefects, followed by the members of the Students Council, House Captains and Vice-captains. The Principal   administered the oath of office to the Prefects and the members of the Student Council. Later, addressing the new student leaders he outlined the duties of the office bearers. The principal advised the new office bearers to take up their responsibilities with utmost sincerity and dedication to grow up to be responsible citizens. The principal urged them to create an environment of happiness, security and confidence that would enable each student of the institution to grow into a responsible human being. The Principal also exhorted them to be role models to others.  

The chief guest, Dr. Agrawal honoured the Head Boy, Joshua Michael, Head Girl, Krushika Uday Patankar, Asst Head Boy, Pranav Rao, and Asst Head Girl, Krithika Srinivasan with their badges of office. The Principal conferred badges on the four House Captains and handed their respective house flags to them. The four house captains are: Saud Shah – Blue House, Nilesh Vatsyayan – Green House, Nishil Gosalia – Red House, and Mohd Irfan Qureshi – Yellow House. The Coordinators and the Asst Coordinators were honoured with their badges of Office by the Vice-Principals and the Administration Manager, the Vice Captains of each House by the respective House Masters, and the Prefects by Asst Vice Principals and the Heads of Faculties. A total of 204 students have been entrusted with responsibility to carry out their obligation as the new office bearers.  

The following are the other members of the newly instituted Students Council: Karun Suresh and J. Sounarya (Coordinators Sports), Sabarinath S. and Sanjana Mohandoss (Coordinators Cocurricular), Manish R.G. and Arya V. Giri (Coordinators Public Relations), Maanas S. Prabhakar and Kirti Vijay (Coordinators Social Service), Alistair Bryan John F. and Akansha Roberts (Asst Coordinators Sports), Siddharth Kerkar and Tejaswi Hegde (Asst Coordinators Cocurricular), Darsan Babu and Greeshma Chandra (Asst Coordinators Public Relations), and Derryl Thomas and Neelam P. Purohit (Asst Coordinators Social Service).

 The Head Girl, Krushika Uday Patankar took the pledge on behalf of the members of the Students Council. She promised to do her best to obey the rules of the school, and to be a role model to others. She also promised to fulfill her duties successfully to preserve the honour and reputation of the school.

 Dr. Agrawal congratulated the newly elected leaders and advised them to discharge their duties with dedication, sincerity, confidence and courage. He exhorted them to be humble and to imbibe virtues, which would help them to become great leaders in future. He also urged them to develop the spirit of service without biasness.

In the end, Vice Principal of the senior section Mr. Sunny Thomas, led the newly administered office bearers in prayer seeking the blessings of the Almighty to shower His blessings upon the students and the school. The ceremony came to an end with the school Anthem, led by the school choir. All the new office bearers were seen taking up their responsibilities very sincerely there on.
