Workshop

Centre for special education Indian school Muscat
organized a workshop titled “Neurobiological aspects
underlying Childhood Developmental disorder” by Dr M C
Mathew, M.B.B.S, MD; PhD;DNB (MCH); DCBR (Lon);
DPH,Professor and Consultant developmental Neurologist,
Christian Medical College, Vellore. Parents of special
needs children, teachers from regular school, special
educators, therapists, counselors and psychologists
attended the workshop. Considering the varied background
of the audience, Professor MC Mathew found it apt to
address the audience on how a teacher should ideally
orient oneself to classroom keeping in mind the
child’s mindset. He said that education is primary an
inward journey and teacher’s should be in a happy
state of mind while dealing the children. He insisted
that teacher should be an enabler, facilitating positive
and motivating knowledge oriented interaction.
He spoke on most commonly found childhood
developmental disorders like Autism and ADHD and
answered queries across the audience. The session was
followed by medical consultation for selected children
of CSE. End of the day his talk and interaction was
enlightening was well appreciated. Around 200 people
attended the workshop. His comprehensive answers
reflected his high professional standard and rich
