GRAND LITERARY DAY
AT ISM
The Grand
Literary Day was held on 14th Feb at ISM. The
programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the
Chief Guest, Mr. Shri Chand, Counsellor and Head of
Chancery, Embasy of
India
. This was
followed by a prayer song sung by the School Choir. The
Chief Guest was honoured with a floral bouquet by one of
the senior members of the staff, Mr. Gulzar Ahmed. The
Chief Guest was welcomed by Mr. Remy Athaide, (HOD
English) and Mr. Dubey (HOD, Hindi).
Mr.
Remy Athaide gave a brief report of the activities for
the year 2009-10and Rochell Vaz of Std VIII E presented
a wonderful rendition of the poem 'The Highway
Man'.
Mr.
Dubey also gave a brief report of the various activities
of the department for the academic year. The highlight
of the day was a 'Qawali' by the students of the Primary
Section, that mesmerized one and all.
The
Arabic Department headed by Mr. Mohammed Kunju
reported the activites for the year 2009-10 and the
winning team of the inter-class singing competition kept
the audience rapt with their rhythmic song.
The
French Department after an introductory speech on the
French connection presented a medley of French songs.
The students of Std VI sang 'Il etait un petit navire:'
and the students of Std V sang 'Sur le pont d’
Avignon
'.
Mr.
Krishnadas gave a brief on the activities of the
Malayalam Department. The students of this department
performed a group dance which was a fusion of various
dance forms of Kerala.
Our
Honourable Chief Guest, with great pleasure, distributed
the prizes for the competitions of the different
language departments apart from the prizes for Quiz.
In
his speech, the Chief Guest appreciated the school for
offering so many different languages and he applauded
the staff and students for their relentless effort to
make this day a grand success. He also emphasized that
one must learn a foreign language.
Mrs.
Jyothi Ganesh proposed the vote of thanks.
