MEMORY GENIOUS AT ISM
Aashish Rao, a proud class X student of Indian
School Muscat, mesmerized his school mates with a
display of his eidetic memory at a special assembly
arranged in honour of him last Thursday.
He recalled the value of the mathematical constant
‘Pi’ to the first thousand places entirely from
memory. He
was also able to pinpoint the location of a digit from
twenty slides displayed to the audience for
verification.
Another incredible feat of memory Aashish
displayed was exact probability of locating and
identifying a card from two shuffled decks.
Any one from the audience could ask him to name
the card which they picked from either deck; the answer
came readily from his impeccable memory.
He is also able to memorize up to four decks (208
cards) and recall each one of them in the forward and
reverse order. Similarly,
he can memorize upto 250 random objects and recall them
all within a short span of time both in the forward and
reverse order.
Apart
from the amazing memory he possesses, Aashish has proved
versatility by gaining commendable recognition in other
fields as well. He
bagged the second prize for playing percussion
instruments in the competitions organized by the Indian
Social Club. He
maintains a website on photography and information
technology. He
has won the second prize in the inter-school web
designing competition (Jhankaar) organized by ISM.
He is also
the runner-up in the inter-school quiz competition held
in Srilankan School Muscat.
He
is planning to take part in the ‘World Memory
Championship’ to be held in
Bahrain
.
