ISM KIDS SHOW THE WAY FOR GREEN WORLD
The
Primary Section of Indian School Muscat held its Annual
Sports Day on 19th February, 2009. The theme
of the Sports Day was the very well conceptualized ‘ Green
World – A Better
World’. We, at ISM believe it is very important to
inculcate right values amongst our students which would
enable them to appreciate, respect and love the
environment right from a young age. So what better way
to spread this message than through the healthy spirit
of such a thematic Annual Sports Day.
Mr
Anil Sunger, Chairman, Sports and Co – Curricular
Activities ( Sub Committee
) was the chief guest. The chief guest was warmly
welcomed by the Principal and the
Vice Principal of the Primary Section before
being escorted to the ground where he was presented a
floral bouquet by one of the participating students. In
his welcome address the Vice Principal told
the august gathering that the best people in the
world are the children of the Primary Section. Further
he said that a good fruit is a product of a good tree.
Hence we are grateful for having such lovely and
supportive parents.
The
Sports Day was flagged off by the March Past of students
of Std 1V. All the 650 students in the march past wore
green T shirts to symbolize the green world. The student
leaders of the different sections carried banners like
‘Be Eco friendly’,’ Save earth, Litter Not’,’
Plastic Free’, ‘Pesticide Free’, ‘Save Water’,
‘Nurture Plants’, ‘Pollution Free’,’ Go
Organic’, ‘Recycle Paper’, ‘Respect
Nature’,’ Conserve Energy’ and ‘Go Green’. The
students marched immaculately and smartly to the drum
beats and made everyone proud. The ‘Blossoms’ of the
Primary Section marched in with the white flag
indicating purity and beauty.
The chief guest declared the meet open and
colorful balloons were released into the open sky. This
was followed by the oath taking ceremony where all the
650 children repeated the oath to always respect, behave
and abide by the rules.
Athletic
Events for selected students of Std II, III and IV were
conducted along with the inter-school relay for boys and
girls. All the sports events on sight witnessed very
keen and healthy competition. Both ISM boys and girls
fared exceptionally well to bag gold medals in the
Inter-School relays. The chief guest gave away the
medals for the winners of these events.
The
drill display by the students of the Primary Section was
the high light of the evening. The Fan Drill was
performed by students of class IV. The crowd cheered as
the students swayed up and down with their colorful fans
keeping in tune with the music. They displayed
synchronized co-ordination with supple movements. The
wave formation and ISM formation with students flaunting
their colorful fans was indeed well perceived, enacted
and received.
The
students of class III performed the Dumbbell Drill. They
moved in rhythm to the catchy music. The split line
formation was indeed a splendid display of their
agility, spirit and presence of mind.
The
students of class II performed the PomPom Drill. It was
a wonderful sight to see the colorful Pom Poms flutter
in the air as the little wonders of class II performed
the drill with precision and accuracy.
The
Sports Day culminated
by the
melodious rendition of the Hindi group song sung by 1600
students of Classes II, III and IV. The song was very
well composed and taught by Mr Avinash Mathur, the Music
Teacher of ISM. The drill formations were perceived and
taught by the sports teachers Mr Vijaya Raja and Mr
Karthikeyan. They were ably supported by the
class teachers of the respective sections and the staff
members of the other faculties. The sports day was a
display of cooperation, coordination and harmony of
body, mind and spirit.
