Scouts and Guides Jamboree for Environment, Oman 2010
was held from 13th to 16th
January,
2010 at
Naseem
Gardens
. His Majesty Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden who is
also the honorary
chairman of the World Scout Foundation was the Guest of
Honour.
Scouts, guides and the adult leaders from Indian School
Muscat who represented Indian Scouts
and Guides in the Jamboree are as follows: Aditya
Vishwanath, Subhrajit Ghosal, Ashish
Thomas and Atharva Bhandarkar lead by Scout Master Mr.
N.A. Khan and Linda Ann Thomas,
Alakananda Sajeev, Divina Anil and Upasana Sanyal lead
by Guide Captain Ms. Felcy
Fernandes.
On the first three preparatory days, scouts and
guides built gadgets as well as the gate and
the boundary as a part of the pioneering work and
exhibited their scouting skills. A splendid
exhibition on Incredible India was set up to show
glimpses of the history of
India
. On 16th, after
the grand parade, His Majesty Carl XVI Gustaf visited
all the sub-camps and interacted with all
the scouts and guides. An Odissi dance was performed by
Indian Guides to welcome His
Majesty when he visited the Indian sub-camp. His Majesty
was accompanied by other
dignitaries of
Sweden
, the Sultanate of Oman and officials of Scouts and
Guides,
Oman
. His
Majesty Carl XVI Gustaf was impressed by the
achievements of the Scout and Guide Movement.
The scouts and guides had a great experience of
sharing and caring, living in the open,
exchanging experiences with scouts and guides of other
nationalities which they will cherish
and remember throughout their life

and Mr. Deepak Roy (Coordination)
was
highly appreciated.
