CLASS XII FAREWELL 2009 AT ISM  

Indian School Muscat accorded a memorable farewell at a function held at its New Multipurpose Hall on Wednesday, 11 February 2009 .

 The programme began with a symbolic handing over of lighted candles by the Senior Students’ Council to their junior counterparts. The significant achievements of the Students Council were highlighted which include the organization of ‘Parikrama’, the music extravaganza that generated an amount in excess of R.O. 20,000/- for the cancer patients of Sultan Qaboos University Hospital and an unprecedented raising of fund for the rehabilitation of the Orissa flood victims.

 Assistant Boys’ Dean Gaurav Vinayak Honavar welcomed Principal Mr. Achuthan Madhav, Vice Principals Mr. N.C. Vijayachandra, Mr. S.I. Shareef and Mr. Anand Prabhu and thanked the Class XII students for accepting their invitation. The Principal along with the Vice Principals, Boys’ Dean Aditya Kurian and Girls’ Dean Nikita Benson lighted the lamp and inaugurated Farewell 2009.  

Students of class XI staged a variety of music and dance performances resounding their feeling of inseparable friendship. Representatives from each section of Class XII recollected their sweet memories about the school and thanked their teachers for their relentless support and guidance. They were given mementos by their respective class teachers during the function.  

The much awaited award ceremony organized by class XI enthralled the outgoing students as some of them were honoured for their outstanding calibre and personality. Boys’ Dean Aditya Kurian and Girls’ Dean Nikita Benson were adjudged for the most coveted awards Mr. and Miss ISM respectively. Recipients of other awards are Akshay Badrinathan (Sportsman 2009) and Disha Sadanand Amin (Sportswoman 2009), Angad Singh Atwal and Jerryes Pious Wisely (Mr. Talented) and Shalaka Pai (Ms Talented), Angad Singh Atwal (Mr. Personality) and Nitya Balakrishna (Ms Personality), George Cherian (Hidden Gem), Savio Derrick Rodrigues (Mr. Congeniality) and Raisa Ellen Carmen Gomes (Ms Congeniality), Jerryes Pious Wisely (Mr. Genius) and Noopur Vinayak Joshi (Ms Genius). Certificates were also given to the first and second runners up in each of the above categories.

 The school also declared its awards in four categories: Best Sports Personality Boys – Aditya Kurian (Winner) and Rohan Negi (Runner up), Best Sports Personality Girls – Disha Sadanand Amin (Winner) and Shalaka Pai (Runner up). In the Best All Rounder of the year boys’ category, Aditya Kurian is the winner and Jerryes Pious Wisely, the runner up. In the girls’ Best All Rounder winner is Shalaka Pai and the runner up, Sowmya Vijayan.

 Principal exhorted the outgoing students to uphold the values they have learned from the school. He also wished them best of luck in their Board examination and hoped that they would come out with flying colours.

 Boys’ Dean Aditya Kurian and Girls’ Dean Nikita Benson in their reply speeches thanked profusely  the Principal and all the teachers who painstakingly taught them academic virtues and  moulding them to young adults, who can boldly face the challenges of the world. They also thanked their juniors for felicitating them with the wonderful farewell function. All class XII students took a pledge, as Aditya Kurian pronounced the words, that they would be ambassadors of peace and brotherhood wherever they go and promised to uphold and promote the values instilled in them by their teachers and parents.

 The programme was compered by Taha Shah and Rachita Roy. The function ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Assistant Girls’ Dean Anjana Nanda.
