     CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATIONS

PRIMARY SECTION

On the 14th  of November every year, the birthday of the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, is celebrated as Children’s Day.

The Primary Section of Indian School Muscat celebrated Children’s Day on 12th November 2008, with a variety of fun-filled activities for the children. The celebrations began with a prayer song titled, “ Hamko man ki shakti dena.” sung by all the teachers who were also joined by the Principal and Vice-Principal, in seeking blessings from the Almighty for their children.

The Vice-Principal, Mr. Anand Prabhu, then enthralled the children with a melodious number which he played on the harmonica. To the joyous delight of the children, this was followed by a peppy dance number performed by ‘Sher Khan – the tiger’ enacted by Mrs.Nandini Hande. Then there was a Magic Show performed by noted magician Wakil Khan. The children cheered him on as they were held spell-bound by his variety of magic tricks. Later, all the children of the Primary Section keenly participated in the Handwriting and Art Contests which were also held to mark the occasion.

All in all, the Children’s Day celebrations at ISM were in line with Chacha Nehru’s real message, that of providing our children with a safe and a loving environment in which to grow as well as provide them with ample and equal opportunities through which they can take great strides and contribute to the progress of the nation.
