CAREER FAIR 2008
The
counseling department of Indian School Muscat
diligently planned out an elaborate Career Fair 2008 on
6th and 7th of November, 2008.
The
career guidance seminar had extraordinary speakers and
entrepreneurs of great achievement who in turn laid
out a brief road map of careers in sales, management and
variety of academic
programmes at undergraduate level for all students
leaving school after their +2 examinations.

spoke on careers in Information Technology. Mr. M V
Jose, General Manager of Style
Trading Co. LLC,
Oman
spoke on Sales & Retail Management. Mr. Robert Mac
Lean, Principal NHI Oman spoke on careers in Hospitality
and Travel Management. Dr. Thomas A Heming, Vice Dean
for Academic Affairs, Oman Medical College spoke on
careers in Medical and Allied Fields.

7th November, 2008.
On
Friday, Dr. Muhammed Nasir Baig, Director, Financial
Studies, Polygot Institute,
Muscat
spoke on the gamut management
courses available to students.
Mr. Antony Isaac, Managing Partner of Morrison
Muscat, Chartered Accountants gave a brilliant
presentation on careers in Accounting, IT Audit,
information systems, audit management.
Ms. Sangma Arora of IDP
Education Australia gave a full description on various
universities and courses available in
Australia
. In the
afternoon session, Mr. Nazir Hafeez, Chief Sub-Editor,
Oman Daily Observer spoke on excellent career
opportunities and characteristic courses
available in Mass Media and Journalism. Later,
Dr. Christoph Highers of
German
University
of Technology in
Muscat
spoke on careers in Architectural Design, Geosciences,
IT, Regional Management,
Urban tourism planning which is 20 billion Dollar
industry in
Oman
. Ms. Jill
Duffy of
Northwestern
University
in
Qatar
gave an excellent description of careers in Medicine,
Engineering, Business and Computers, International
Affairs and Journalism courses available in Qatar
Foundation’s
Education City
,
Qatar
and their linkage to
Carnegie Mellon University
,
USA
and best universities in US where showcased.
Almost
20 informative and exhibition stalls were planned in the
basement of the new ISM multipurpose hall, wherein
parents and students from several schools in
Oman
visited and exchanged the career information and picked
up booklets.
The
ISM career fair was inaugurated by Mr. Vimal Purecha,
Vice-President, School Managing Committee.
It was greatly applauded
by the parents for bringing such benefits to the
students and their parents.
While
concluding the programme, Dr. Alex C Joseph, teacher,
Department of English, ISM thanked
all the participants, organizers and Mr. V. Preshob and
Dr. Benny Varghese of the ISM school counseling
department for their meticulous and thoughtful gesture
to the student community in the Sultanate.
