DIWALI
ASSEMBLY
In
celebration of the festival of lights, Diwali, the
children of the Primary Section of ISM presented a
special Diwali Assembly. Diwali marks the triumph of
truth over evil. According to Hindu mythology, the
people of Ayodhya lit lamps, distributed sweets and thus
celebrated the triumphant return of Lord Rama after his
victory over Ravana. Ever since, this day is celebrated
as Diwali where people light lamps, wear new clothes,
distribute sweets and burst fire crackers.
The
significance of this festival was beautifully portrayed
through the enactment of various scenes from the
Ramayana. Nishant Shekar of Std IV, playing the role of
Valmiki, ably led the screenplay through dialogues and
songs. Clippings of various scenes of the Ramayana movie
were also shown much to the delight of the children.
The
teachers who put together this special Diwali Assembly
included Ms. Anita Pandita, Ms. Jyothyi Ganeshnath, Ms.
Selvi Pillai, Ms.Suji Thomas and Ms. Meenakshi R.
