Indian

student achievers at a colourful ceremony held on
Wednesday, 10th August 2011 in the school’s

Committee, Principal, Vice Principals, Heads of various
Departments and the entire teaching staff of the school,
and the awardees’ proud parents. The school Boys’
Dean, Pranav Rao warmly welcomed the recipients of the
awards, their parents and the guests.
The
prestigious ISM Academic Merit Award is given annually
to honour the achievers of Classes X and XII for all the
best efforts they had put in to be the toppers of their
esteemed school. Those students of Class XII who secure
90% and above on the aggregate and the students of Class
X who secure A1 grades in all the five subjects receive
a gold medal and a certificate. The Silver medal and a
certificate are awarded to those students who secure the
highest marks in each of the subjects in the CBSE Class
XII examinations held in March. This year, 79 students
of Class X and 98 students of Class XII received medals
and certificates for their outstanding achievement.
The
evening function commenced in the traditional manner
with the lighting of the lamp by the President and the
members of the School Managing Committee, and the
Principal. The school choir invoked the blessings of the
Almighty through a prayer song.
While
welcoming the meritorious students, their proud parents
and the dedicated teachers, Dr. Avirat Vaishnav,
President of the school Managing Committee appreciated
the dedication, determination and perseverance of the
students and thanked them for maintaining the excellence
of the school. He complimented those students of Class
XII who had secured 90% and above in the board
examinations in a very special way. Later, the President
felicitated 177 Super Scholastic Awardees with medals
and certificates.
The
Principal, Mr. Achuthan Madhav presented a brief report
highlighting the achievements of the students and the
school. At the outset, he hailed the benevolence of His
Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said towards Indian School
Muscat. He also appreciated and thanked the Ministries
of Education and Manpower as well as the Department of
International Schools Office for their constant support
and cooperation. The Principal expressed his heartfelt
congratulations to the enlightened and dynamic students,
their supportive parents and all the staff who were
directly or indirectly responsible for the excellent
result.
The
students of Middle and Senior Sections presented a
string of scintillating entertainment and mesmerized the
appreciative audience. The Odissi dance, the folk dances
of Assam and Rajasthan and the theme dance on seasons,
stupendously choreographed by their respective dance
teachers, enthused the large audience. The performers
danced with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. The dancers
looked resplendent in their eye-catching costumes. They
danced in perfect unison to the beat of the musical
instruments.
Besides
these dances, the school English and Hindi choirs, and
the school orchestra enchanted the meritorious students,
their encouraging parents, the teachers and all the
dignitaries with many foot-tapping and melodious songs.
The
curtain was brought down with the vote of thanks
proposed by Krithika Srinivasan, Girls’ Dean. The
evening was indeed a defining moment for all the award
winners and their proud and ever supportive parents.
They will definitely cherish this evening for many
years.
