INVESTITURE CEREMONY-
JUNIOR PREFECTS – 2011 – 2012
04th
May, 2011, marked the first significant occasion of the
academic year for the Middle Section , of Indian School
Muscat. ‘The
Investiture Ceremony of the Junior Prefects.’
The
solemn occasion was witnessed by the proud parents of
the 114 boys & girls prefects, in the presence of
the distinguished Guest of Honour
Lt. Col. Mansoor Habib Al Arahabi (Royal Oman
Police, Sultanate Of Oman.) and the ISM family - the
Principal, Vice-Principals
of the Primary, Middle & Senior Sections, the Heads
of the Departments of
the various teaching faculties, teachers and
students of Class
VIII.
Avantika
Murali, the Grade VII academic topper of the year
2010-2011, greeted the Chief Guest and presented him
with a potted plant, a symbol of ‘Environmental
Friendliness and Green Revolution.’
The
lamp was lit to mark the opening of the function by the
Chief Guest
and the attending dignitaries of the school.
The four house captains then led the Prefects to
the beat of a slow march played by the school band, into
the hall and up
to the dais in perfect co-ordination.
A
student of Class VIII recited a ‘Surah’ from
the Holy Quran followed by the pray song in
Arabic played by the school choir.
The officiating
Vice Principal of the Middle Section, Mr. Jacob
Zacharias, welcomed the gathering and briefed the
congregation on the solemnity of this Red-Letter Day in
the lives of the budding leaders.
Ability, Attitude and Motivation, he said should
become the aspirant’s morale to shoulder all school
activities as responsible leaders.
The
Principal, then congratulated the Prefects and their
proud parents and administered the oath as the Head of
the Institution to the Prefects, who professed their
solidarity to uphold all responsibilities of the school
as true leaders.
The
Prefect badges were then pinned on to honour the young
boys & girls as Junior Prefects by the Chief Guest,
the Principal, the Vice-Principals and the Heads of the
Departments.
The
Principal then addressed the audience, motivating the
young leaders to take up their duties with sincerity and
nurture their talents as they exercise them with
humility and integrity.
The leaders were encouraged
to march forward with determination and strong
will-power to develop good qualities that would sustain
and balance their development in school and open doors
for a wider perspective in life ahead with active
participation in both academic and co-curricular
activities thereby, bringing rich laurels to the school
and family.
The Chief Guest, Lt. Col. Mansoor Habib Al Arahabi,
very aptly commended the solemn function and
congratulated the gathering as a united and friendly
India
. He also
stressed on the friendly ties between
India
and
Oman
and said that we must rise above all religions
to meet the need of the hour in any situation.
He also extended all help for the safety of the
students of ISM – traffic control measures in Jibroo
and Darsait. He
expressed his gratitude for being in the midst of the
young students and encouraged them to do well.
The
officiating Vice Principal, Mr. Jacob Zacharias, then
read a prayer invoking God’s blessings on the newly
elected Prefects to help them to rise above everything
and be of service to one and all.
The
school choir then gave a true rendition to mark the
solemnity of the occasion with the song, ‘Heal the
World.’
Merin
Varghese, a newly elected Prefect proposed the vote of
thanks. The
function was brought to a close by the school choir
leading the students with the School Anthem.
