ISM ORGANISES INVESTITURE CEREMONY

 Indian School Muscat (ISM) organised the prestigious investiture ceremony of its Prefects and members of the Student Council on Monday, 2nd May 2011 in the school’s multipurpose hall. Captain Deepak Bisht, Defence Advisor, Embassy of India, was the chief guest of the occasion. The Principal, Mr. Achuthan Madhav, Mr. Mathew Abraham, Advisor to the Board of Directors, Vice Principals, Asst Vice Principals, Heads of Departments, staff, students and their proud parents attended the ceremony. The Chief Guest inaugurated the function by lighting the traditional lamp.

 The beginning of the solemn and prestigious investiture ceremony was marked by the marching in of the Prefects, followed by the members of the Student Council, House Captains and Vice Captains. The Principal, Mr. Achuthan Madhav administered the oath of office to the Prefects and the members of the Student Council. Later, addressing the new student leaders the Principal outlined the duties of the office bearers. He advised them to take up their responsibilities with utmost sincerity and dedication to grow up to be responsible citizens.  All student leaders must use leadership training as opportunities to serve the school in day-to-day running of the school with self confidence, integrity and humility.  He exhorted them to be role models to others. The Principal also urged the student leaders to work hard to uphold the school’s achievements in academics, sports and co-curricular and to keep the school flag flying high.  

The chief guest, Captain Deepak Bisht honoured the Head Boy, Pranav Rao, Head Girl, Krithika Srinivasan, Asst Head Boy, Arun Alvin Philips, and Asst Head Girl, and Nishigandha Nagesh Kelkar with their badges of office. Krithika received the school flag from the chief guest with pride. The Principal conferred badges on the four House Captains and handed their respective house flags to them. The four house captains are: Anuj Saji Varghese – Blue House, Aashiq Alex Eapen – Green House, Ashwin Saji Mathew – Red House, and Sibin Mathew – Yellow House. The Coordinators and the Asst Coordinators, the Vice Captains of all the four Houses and the Prefects were honoured with their badges of Office. A total of 223 students have been entrusted with responsibility to carry out their obligation as the new office bearers.

 The following are the other members of the newly instituted Student Council: Alistair Bryan John F. and Reshmita S. (Coordinators - Sports), Siddharth Kerkar and Tejaswi Hegde (Coordinators - Co curricular), Darsan Babu and Greeshma Chandra (Coordinators - Public Relations), Derryl Thomas and Neelam P. Purohit (Coordinators - Social Service), and Sanjot Singh Dhindsa and Sandra Johnson (Asst Coordinators - Sports), Shlok Srivastava and Anju Joseph (Asst Coordinators - Co curricular), Rishab Sanjeev Karajgi and Deepti Vijai C. (Asst Coordinators - Public Relations), and Prince A. Francis and Satya Sai Sudha G.K. (Asst Coordinators - Social Service).  

The Head Boy, Pranav Rao took the pledge on behalf of the members of the Student Council. He promised to do his best to obey the rules of the school, and to be a role model to others. He also promised to fulfill his duties successfully to preserve the honour and reputation of the school.  

Captain Deepak Bisht congratulated the newly elected leaders and advised them to discharge their duties with dedication, sincerity, confidence and courage. He exhorted them to imbibe virtues to be good leaders. He said, “A good leader is a good follower.”

 In the end, Vice Principal of the senior section Mr. Sunny Thomas led the newly administered office bearers in prayer seeking the blessings of the Almighty to shower His blessings upon the students and the school. The ceremony came to an end with the Indian national anthem, led by the school choir. Mr. Alexander G. Varghese, in-charge of the Student Council along with his team had made an elaborate arrangement for the success of the programme. Dr. Alex C. Joseph was the master of the ceremony.
