ISM HONOURS ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

 Indian School Muscat (ISM) presented the Annual Academic Awards to the students for their meritorious academic excellence at a ceremonious function held on Wednesday, 27th April, 2011 in the school’s multipurpose hall. A total number of 261 students received the awards from the Chief Guest, Shaikh Essa Bin Mohamed Bin Issa Al Zadjali, founder, Chairman and Editor in Chief, Muscat Press and Publishing House, Sultanate of Oman. The chief guest also honoured Mr. Anil Sungar, former President of the school managing committee and Mr. Vimal Purecha, former Vice-President of the SMC recognizing their devotional contributions to the welfare of the school.  

 Mr. Mohammed Ridha Hameed Dawood, Manager, Administration Services, Port Services Corporation graced the occasion as the guest of honour. Present and past members of the Board of Directors of the Indian Schools in the Sultanate, ISM President, Dr. Avirat Vaishnav and members of the School Managing Committee, Principals of other Indian Schools, invitees, members of staff, students and their proud parents attended the colourful function.

 A red carpet reception and a guard of honour were accorded to the Chief Guest and the guest of honour who inaugurated the function by lighting the traditional lamp.

 The prestigious Academic Award is given annually to honour the meritorious students of Classes V to IX and XI for their excellent efforts they had put in to be the toppers of their respective classes. 211 students from Classes V to VIII and 50 students from Classes IX and XI were the recipients of this Award. Students of Classes V to IX who made a perfect sweep of A1 grade in all the curricular subjects as well as academic toppers from Class XI received the annual award. The outstanding toppers first, second and third were also awarded fee waiver scholarships. Seven students were also given awards and cash prizes for their commendable regional performance in the Australian Educational Research and Council (ACER) bench mark assessments in English, Mathematics and Science.

 The Principal, Mr. Achuthan Madhav appraised the gathering of the academic accomplishments and the recent achievements of the students. He highlighted the supreme performance in class XII CBSE Board examinations in which six students of ISM secured Gulf regional topper gold medal awards in Science, Commerce and Humanities. The principal credited the achievements to the best teachers in the school besides the contributions of the parents and the diligence of the students.

The Principal expressed his sincere gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said for his noble benevolence and generosity. He appreciated the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Manpower and the Department of International Schools for their constant encouragement and support. The Principal congratulated all the outstanding achievers and their proud parents for bringing laurels to their alma mater. He also lauded the highly motivated staff for their dedicated service and thanked the past and present members of the BOD and the school Managing Committee for their unstinted support to the all round development of the students at ISM.

 The President of the school Managing Committee, Dr. Avirat Vaishnav congratulated the proud awardees, their supportive parents and the industrious teachers on their achievement. He too distributed a part of the awards to the meritorious students in the middle section.

 After honouring the diligent awardees, the Chief Guest, Shaikh Essa Bin Mohamed Bin Issa Al Zadjali expressed his immense happiness at the warm reception given to him by the school. He congratulated all the award winners and their supportive parents. He also expressed his best wishes and greater success to the students in the school.
