A GLIMPSE OF THE PRIMARY SCHOOL
|
The Primary School consists of the
Kindergarten and the Primary classes from I to IV.
The school strives to encourage creativity, ignite a love for learning by
creating a conducive atmosphere to overcome any inhibitions.
The Kindergarten section introduces the child to a meaningful world of pleasant
experiences providing him with opportunities to master motor, physical, academic
and social skills. Concerts and excursions are a part of the curriculum.
The learning of different subjects takes place interactively through learning by
doing initiated through lively discussions, projects, worksheets, excursions,
hobby classes and winter camps.
Physical Education is an integral part of the curriculum. Specific Physical
Training and games periods provide the children with ample opportunities for
sports and organized games. Annual Sports and P.T displays are spectacular and
colourful, especially at the kindergarten level.
Value Education is given special emphasis and is a part of the curriculum. This
ensures inculcation of the right values in the growing child.
Various competitions like group recitation in English and Hindi, Art,
Handwriting, Story Telling are conducted periodically in order to give every
child the opportunity to participate and build up their confidence.
Exclusive Computer Laboratories for the
primary children of Standard I to IV are available for computer studies.
The Prefectorial system in the Primary Section by the name of Blossoms provides
leadership training and gives a sense of responsibility to our young students.
The Primary School follows a system of continuous informal evaluation. The
children of Std I and II are assessed on their daily performance without
assigning marks or grades. The children of Std III and IV are assessed
periodically at the end of each unit of learning. The results are consolidated
and the performance is graded at the end of each term.
Constant guidance is given to the students with behavioural problems by the
Student Counsellor.
Parent Orientation programme is held at the beginning of each academic year,
bringing together parents and teachers to provide maximum input to the child.
The Primary School is headed by the Vice Principal Mrs. Laskshmi Neelakantan
assisted by three HOD's Mrs. Asha Bhatia, Mrs. Laila Pillai and Mrs. Susan
Thomas for primary section and by supervisor Ms. Surinder Kaur for the
Kindergarten.
