MIDDLE SCHOOL AT A GLANCE

Department of Science
The department undertakes several educational activities to promote scientific interest, appreciation and understanding among the students. Educational trips, Science exhibitions, and Science Olympiads cultivate scientific attitude and students are exposed to complex concepts and principles. Recently Green Olympiad has also been conducted.
Department of Social Science
Students are involved in practical oriented activities, such as:
Model UNO ( Class V), Village Panchayat (Class VI), Model Lok Sabha (Class VII), Diurnal Weather Chart (Class VIII).

Department of English
The department conducts Recitation competitions for Std. V to VIII and debate for all the sections of Std. VIII once a year. The main objective is to develop oral language skills, pronunciation, diction, clarity etc. Debates and drama competition are also run by this department. In addition to these , Creative Writing and Spelling Bee competitions are also held for Class V to VIII.

Department of Hindi
Every year the department conducts creative writing competitions and elocution competitions.

Department of Mathematics
Maths Olympiad is conducted once a year. This is highly beneficial as questions are based on applications and skills.

Department of Computer Science
Computer Studies has been introduced as a subject for classes V-VIII. Latest software packages such as MS-Word, MS-Excel, PowerPoint, Front Page and advanced languages, such as, Visual Basic are being taught in the Middle Section. All the teachers have been given training in MS-Office package and PowerPoint presentations make teaching and learning more interesting. Middle section students have been doing remarkably well in The Cyber Olympiad and Gulf Computer Olympiad conducted each year.

Hobby Classes
Hobby classes are conducted by teachers and parent volunteers on Thursday mornings on various subjects, namely:
Photography, Dramatics, Public Speaking, Yoga, Cooking, Ceramic flower making, Scrabble.

Tours and Treks
The Middle School organizes educational tours and treks twice a year during summer and winter breaks to various parts of India. Adventure, physical endurance are the main aims. Tours and treks have been organized to some well known places, namely, Har ki dun, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Lakshwadeep, Karnataka, Goa, Gujarat and Rajasthan, Darjeeling, Glacier trek in the Himalayas. Recently a tour to Kenya Safari was organized and the children found it very interesting and informative. Many more National and International tours and treks are in the offing.

Quiz Competitions
Middle school students have been doing exceptionally well in the Inter School Quiz competitions. Our students have won laurels and done ISM proud with their excellent performance in the Times of Oman School Quiz. Our children have participated in the Bournvita Quiz Contest several times and have many times reached the Zonal finals.

Music Talent Competition
Music Talent Competition is held regularly for all classes every year. The competition is conducted for each class separately in vocal and instrumental categories. This competition has encouraged many children to take specialized training in music in order to excel in this competition.
