ACTIVITIES WITH SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
1.Case Work
Counselling is available
individually although opportunities do exist to take part in
group work, the primary aim being personal development. It
enables exploration, self-discovery and clarification, which
allows individuals to make optimum use of the choices facing
them in academic, personal and social lives. Interaction
with parents helps a great deal in personality development
of individuals.
Problems that require personal counselling are usually for
scholastic backwardness, behavioural problems, career
confusion, depression, problems related to relationships,
anxiety, fear, feeling of loneliness, inadequacy, lack of
confidence, inability to concentrate or study,
psycho-somatic problems etc. Parents, teachers and friends
are involved in the diagnostic and treatment stages.
2.Group Work
Workshops and sessions are arranged for parents, teachers
and students.
3.Community work
Conducting training programmes for parents, teachers and
students of other schools.
4.Careers Service
This provides
Counselling service to assist students in their career
development and in formulating and implementing their career
plans. Students of different schools in the Sultanate along
with working people too make use of these services. A Career
Guidance Seminar is held every year to help students choose
their career. Students benefit immensely from the
information and other important data available at the
Resource Centre.
MENTOR SYSTEM
The purpose of the
mentor system is to give personal guidance and attention to
class XI and XII students in their social, emotional and
academic areas. The mentors are the teachers selected from
the Primary, Middle and Senior sections. They play a dual
role of a leader and a facilitator for the students. Each
mentor has a group of 8-10 students to whom they provide
individual attention. Group and one-to-one sessions are held
regularly. The mentors maintain confidentiality. A career
guidance programme will be held in the month of October.
